Niuean Language Week

Fakalofa lahi atu this week is niuean language week, Niue’s ocean is very clear. Niue is a small island in the South Pacific Ocean. Niue is known for its limestone cliffs and coral-reef dive sites. There are 1935 people living in niue, and their currency is new zealand dollar. One of my favourite Niuean group dance is sipaio. They wear a niuean patterned dress with some accessories which is a pulou and tiputa.

The Niuean culture has unique values and social norms. Some of the values that are important to the Niue people include fakaalofa or gift-giving, generosity, reciprocity, and etiquette. Social norms include specific gender roles and statuses and the use of alcohol at cultural events.
Niue only has two official languages: Niuean (or Vagahau Niue) and English (or Vagahau Peritania). Both languages are widely spoken throughout the island and almost everybody will be able to answer you in English.

TRIP TO MOTAT

MOTAT is a musem of travel and technology. MOTAT is often visted by school student’s and pre schooler’s . I persoally think that a visit to MOTAT is an amazing idea for schools. MOTAT helps you learn about travel and technology. Although MOTAT offers many interresting expierences, there are several changes that need to be made so that it appeals Intermediate students.

I have a few reasons why schools shouldnt go one reason is because they closed most of the fun and enjoying parts. Anothere reason is because the tram ride is like $100 for disabled people. The invention’s are really artistic the planes where large and the village is creative. I firmly agree that MOTAT is good for intermediate students because theres good and interestion history.

I admire

I admire my dad, and a few people. The reason i choose my dad is because my dad treats me like i’m someone special. which i am. I love my dad, he respects the things i do and loves me and buys me stuff. ¨like $10 or $20 is enough” but i’m really grateful for having him. He’s an amazing role model.

Moriori are the native polynesian people of the Chatham Islands (Rēkohu in Moriori; Wharekauri in Māori), New Zealand. Moriori originated from Māori settlers from the New Zealand mainland around 1500 CE. This was near the time of the shift from the archaic to classic Māori culture on the main islands of New Zealand. Oral tradition records multiple waves of migration to the Chatham Islands, starting in the 16th century. Over several centuries these settlers’ culture diverged from mainland Māori, developing a distinctive language (which started as a dialect but gradually became only partially mutually intelligible with Māori), mythology, artistic expression and way of life. Currently there are around 700 people who identify as Moriori, most of whom no longer live on the Chatham Islands. During the late 19th century some prominent anthropologists mistakenly proposed that Moriori were pre-Māori settlers of mainland New Zealand, and possibly Melanesian in origin.

For this task we had to make a slide about moriori, and add some images.

Ki o’rahi

On Thursday Room 1, and 7 went to play ki o’rahi. If you want to know how to play ki o’rahi this is how you play. So there’s two teams, kioma and taniwha. The leader’s have to rock paper scissors. Whoever wins gets to pick what team they will be. One team is Kīoma (ball carriers) and the other are Taniwha (creatures of the lake). Teams must be in possession of the kī in order to score points. Kīoma accumulate points by scoring tries while Taniwha accumulate points by hitting the tupu (target) with the kī. We won 2 games we won to pt england, and stone fields The best we had was with glenbrae. They had 21 and we had 3.”unluggy uce”.

We also played against  panmure bridge they got 15 we got 10.  Kioma can only stay in Te Ao, and taniwha is allowed in Te Ao and Te Roto. And the two people in the middle is only allowed in the pawero. and if your in te roto and the ball is in the Pawero you can get on your knees but make sure your feet is on the ground. Also your not allowed to touch the tupu or thats a point to the other team.
